30. has. been. amazing.
I can hardly articulate it.
If I had known in my early twenties this woman entering into this new decade of her life, I would probably have been easier on her. She is the strongest, sexiest, and most confident version of that girl she used to be. I don’t know what these next 10 years have to offer, but I’m confident that the last 10 will provide the foundation and framework needed to move forward with grace and confidence. I don’t intend on circling the same mountains and so I will use the past to inform my future.
This season has been one of the absolute sweetest of my life. At the center of it, there’s a quote I’ve been carrying in my heart, every now and then bubbling to the forefront of my chest, more often than not as of late.
“This generation coming up- unselfish, altruistic, creative, patriotic…you believe in a fair, just, inclusive America; you know that constant change has been America’s hallmark, something not to fear but to embrace, and you are willing to carry this hard work of democracy forward. You’ll soon outnumber any of us, and I believe as a result that the future is in good hands.”
It’s something that our former leader of the free world said and I believe it more than ever. I believe in this rising generation, their ideas, their passion, and the heart they have for others. I believe they are the heartbeat of the most powerful and globally dominant country on Earth and that they will do incredible things. Ken Robinson says that if the conditions are right, life flourishes. And somehow I get the privilege to share in this.
I’m grateful for this 30th year. Wise enough to know better, but still young enough to not be tethered by society’s expectations. So, I’ll continue chasing sunsets and praying sun stand still prayers.
