I recently saw the movie, The Post, and it made me love Meryl Streep even more than I already did. Is that even possible?!
I melted as I watched Meryl Streep’s character evolve throughout the movie. This quiet, timid woman finding her voice, standing in her truth, and, ultimately, refusing to be silent. She decided that walking in her passion and purpose had to prevail. That her truth was power. And in that truth, she became powerful. And she risked everything to do so. Her reputation, her empire, her legacy…and, still, she pressed forward.
I think that people often times try to silence us. And they do so in different ways. Sometimes boldly daring us to speak up or other times, subtly leading us to doubt ourselves. People are crafty.
My resolution for 2018 was to become best friends with my intuition. I’m learning to trust myself. I’m learning to trust my gut. The times that I have pushed down feelings of something not feeling right or something being off, comes full circle down the road and I see the truth of everything, and just as I had suspected…I was right.
It’s so interesting the lengths at which we go through to avoid feeling what we already know in our hearts to be true. I don’t ever want to be a woman who is silenced…be it by others or myself. Never again.
And so we run from the truth. From our truth. Stop running. Because if this is true, it is inevitable that you are running from yourself.
We were never designed or created to be silent, risk avoiding, meek, lily-livered, tiptoers…that is the opposite of who God says we are. He says that we are conquerers, the head and not the tail, more precious than rubies, strong and dignified, powerful…and chosen.
Listen to your gut. Speak up for yourself. Publish your post. Not everyone was meant to subscribe, like, or share your truth.
But you were.
